Mike Schmuhl – Experienced Strategist

Mike Schmuhl is a seasoned political strategist with leadership experience spanning local to presidential campaigns. He helps clients enhance key initiatives, improve communication strategies, and leverage technology to achieve results. His portfolio includes work with candidates, political action committees, labor unions, nonprofits, and private sector organizations.

As the national campaign manager for Pete Buttigieg’s 2020 presidential campaign, Mike led a 600-person team, culminating in a historic Iowa caucus victory. He has also served as chair of the Indiana Democratic Party and on the Executive Committee of the Democratic National Committee.

A South Bend, Indiana native, Mike has been a senior aide to U.S. Senator Joe Donnelly and Buttigieg’s first mayoral campaign manager and chief of staff. Beyond politics, he has experience in journalism, including roles at The Washington Post and NBC’s Meet the Press.
Mike holds a BA in History from the University of Notre Dame and an MA in International Affairs from Sciences Po in Paris, where he was recognized as Alumni of the Year in 2021. Currently, he serves on the Advisory Council of NewDEAL.
